The Final Project
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
OBJECTIVE
Create a personal, multi-page website that is either:
1. W3C standards-compliant (you can use Javascript/Ajax), or
2. W3C standards-compliant + Flash bits & banners, or
3. all Flash, with ActionScript 3.0*
* You will have to justify why your site needs to be all flash. Also, you must demonstrate past proficiency in Flash to create an entire site in Flash. I want you to be able to create the final site primarily on your own, with Heber's and my help.
Before you make your choice, you will need to consider carefully who is going to be looking at your site and on what platforms they will see it.
Your site can:
- be a design or advertising portfolio site
- be an "about my family" site
- be a site for your company, band, or group**
- not be the same site you did for Project 1
** This is subject to Brentian approval. If you choose a company, it should be your company (which you own, or are a major part of, and as a result have major influence over its design) if you choose to go that route. You should not bring in a freelance web project for www.selling-skrapb00king-stuff-iz-t0tally-lukrativ-MLM.biz simply to avoid work and "double up" with my assignment. You (and your classmates and I) need to be the creative director, art director, programmer and designer. This will be an opportunity to apply best practices and conceptual creativity in a relatively interference-free environment. Keep in mind that these sites will not be dynamic sites, using PHP or ASP or any other server-side technology (unless you are already proficient at them and can apply them to your site for my class). This class is a foundation-intermediate level interactive design class, and it is not possible to learn the basics of (much less master) all the available technologies. Clients usually want content management systems, dynamic pages and forms, and those are out of the scope of this project. There are always exceptions, however. Talk to me if you have concerns and/or special abilities I may not know about. This is the longest asterisk/disclaimer text you have ever seen.
Your site must:
- have at least 3 secondary pages
- have at least 3 tertiary pages
- be a working, tested, linked site, posted online
Your site should:
- feature a healthy yet bandwidth-conscious amount of images (if it's a portfolio or family site)
