210 Project Grading Standards

In an attempt to demystify the grading process for the projects in this class, I have formulated a patented system called "C.E.L.T."
It stands for "Concept, Execution, Layout, and Typography."

C.E.L.T.™
- - - - - - -

Concept -
Is your concept a truly great and original idea?
Is it effective? Is it memorable? Is it creative?

Execution -
How well have you visually executed your concept?
Has it transferred successfully from ideas & sketches to visual form?
Does it do justice to your concept?

Layout -
Does the project observe the principles of design, and apply them in a competent and interesting manner?
Is the viewer or user's eye led through the piece in a logical way?
Is the information designed well?
Have you designed the negative space as well as the positive space?
If it breaks the rules, does your project break them in unique, surprising, thoughtful, and appropriate ways?

Typography -
How well have you used typography in your project?
Did you think and design with typography, or did you simply use a font?
Does the type have unity and contrast?
Are you breaking any rules of typography? If so, why?
